The Field vs. New Mexico – Brown, Clemson, Coastal Carolina, Columbia, East Tennessee State, Furman, Georgetown, Georgia Southern, James Madison, Kennesaw State, Missouri, North Carolina, Samford, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, and Wofford.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – After a strong showing in their home opener, the Branch Law Firm / Dick McGuire Invitational, the Lobos travel to Greenville, S.C. for the Lady Paladin Invitational. The Lobos hosted an extremely talented field in their first event and battled to finish tied with Oregon for sixth place with a team score of 881 (+5).
The 44th Lady Paladin Invitational will play host to 17 teams this weekend (Sep. 20-22) at the par-72, 6,313-yard Furman University Golf Course in Greenville, S.C.
“There is a good field,” said Lobo head coach Jill Trujillo. “Wake Forest, Coastal Carolina, and Furman are going to be the teams to beat. The course is in great condition and very scorable, but the greens will be the toughest part for us.”
In the lineup for the Lobos is Manon Molle’, Ingrid Gutierrez, Alexandra Moisand, Eva Saulnier and Sol Lee with Katerina Jaeger playing as an individual. Molle’ finished 12th at the Branch/McGuire with a score of two-under and freshman Sol Lee finished in 18th place at one-under.
“Our emotions ran a little high at the Branch / McGuire,” Trujillo admitted. “We are striving to maintain our focus and stay as neutral as possible.”
Attempting to capture back-to-back team victories is hosting team, Furman University. The Paladin’s 2014 team score of 860 shattered the previous tournament record (865) set by Wisconsin in 2013. Furman’s Taylor Totland also returns to defend her individual title win from last year’s invitational.
The 54-hole tournament begins with individuals teeing off in opening round play at 8:51 a.m. on Sunday.
