ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The University of New Mexico Women’s Soccer (2-3-0) team is jet setting for a weekend trip into Big Ten country. The Lobos open their double dip on Friday evening at the University of Minnesota (3-1-2) at 6 p.m. (MST) before facing off with Michigan State (3-1-1) on Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. (MST).  UNM has split their road matches this season, winning at New Mexico State before dropping the decision at Colorado.

New Mexico will be well rested after a week off following their dominating 4-1 win over Idaho State at the UNM Soccer Complex. The Lobo attack netted four goals from four different players in the win over the Bengals.

ABOUT THE MATCHES

  • The New Mexico Lobos are coming off a dominating 4-1 win over Idaho State last week in Albuquerque. The victory saw four different Lobos find the back of the net off of four different assists. UNM unleashed a barrage of 33 shots, the most in three seasons. It was also the first home win for first-year head coach Heather Dyche.
  • Claire Lynch was one of the four Lobos to score a goal against the Bengals, which marked her second of the season. In her last nine matches, going back to the 2014 season, the sophomore from Albuquerque has tallied four goals.
  • New Mexico will look to improve on its 2-8-0 record against current Big Ten member institutions, including a 0-5-0 mark against the Golden Gophers and the Spartans. The Lobos’ last win against a Big Ten team was a 3-0 victory against Nebraska on Aug. 22, 2010 in Albuquerque.
  • The Lobos have a record of 16-2 in the past five seasons when scoring two or more goals in a match.
  • Five different Lobos have combined to score the team’s six goals this season.
