ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Head coach Heather Dyche and the Lobo Women’s Soccer team return to the friendly confines of the UNM Soccer Complex after a pair of road matches last week. The Lobos will host the Idaho State Bengals at 2 p.m. (MST) on Thursday, Sept. 3. New Mexico split the road tests, winning at New Mexico State before losing at Colorado.

The Lobos will look to their home venue to get back on track where they experienced great support in the opening weekend of the season. UNM saw 3,629 fans turn out for their first two matches of the season, which included 2,589 for No. 1 Florida State.

History also shows the Lobos are tough to beat on their home pitch. New Mexico’s all-time record at the UNM Soccer Complex stands at 98-61-24, good for a .601 winning percentage.

ABOUT THE MATCH

  • Coach Heather Dyche and the Lobos are coming off a 4-0 loss at Colorado on Sunday afternoon. Despite being unable to find the back of the net, New Mexico created a lot of opportunities to the tune of a dozen shots with four on frame.
  • New Mexico scored the 1-0 decision over their in-state rival New Mexico State last week. The match, part of an annual, year-long competition known as the Rio Grande Rivalry, gave UNM first-year head coach Heather Dyche her first career win as a college coach. The victory was also the fifth victory in as many matches against the Aggies.
  • Madisyn Olguin scored the Lobos’ lone goal at New Mexico State, which marked her first official goal of the season. The senior forward scored in UNM’s 3-1 exhibition win over Fort Lewis College.
  • Senior goalkeeper Cassie Ulrich picked up the shutout in the win in Las Cruces on Wednesday. It was her first of the season and 14th of her career.
  • UNM is coming off an opening weekend of one of the toughest schedules in the nation. The Lobos hosted No. 1 Florida State and No. 15 Texas Tech in the 2015 Lobo Invitational in Albuquerque. New Mexico gave both a match before falling 3-1 to the Seminoles and 1-0 to the Lady Red Raiders. UNM saw great fan support at the UNM Soccer Complex throughout the weekend to the tune of 3,629 fans. That number included the official crowd of 2,589 for the Florida State match, which was the largest crowd for a home opener in program history.
