ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico has unveiled their 2015 uniforms for the upcoming football season, feautring a new home cherry jersey and a white road jersey. Those jerseys are coupled with UNM’s two alternates from the 2014 season, the anthracite alternate home jersey and the white/turquoise alternate away jersey.
If the buzz on social media is any indication, the new uniforms will be a hit.
LoboTV and the football program posted a teaser trailer on Saturday prior to the teams’ final scrimmage of fall camp. The teaser clip and teaser photo, posted on twitter and facebook, garnered immediate attention from ESPN’s Paul Lukas (author of Uni Watch and ESPN’s lead uniform columnist), UniSwag, and Phil Hecken. The video, posted to Vimeo, had over 1,100 full plays the first 24 hours, and over 200 URL embeds, amking the video as viral as UNM has had. Between the twitter feeds of UNMLobos, NewMexicoFB, PhilHecken, UniWatch and UniSwag, UNM’s video and teaser photo were shared, retweeted and favorited over 300 times combined.
The Lobos also have added two new pairs of game pants with their four jerseys. UNM will still have their cherry pants and then a set of white and a set of silver pants, both with “LOBOS” running up or down the pant legs. With two helmets and several decals and logo options for those, it gives UNM a variety of uniform combinations for the season.
