ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Barely over a week remains before the start of the 2015 men’s soccer season, and TopDrawerSoccer.com released its preseason list of the top 100 players in the country Wednesday. Niko Hansen and Chris Wehan, who were both named to the Preseason All-Conference USA Team, both made the list.
Hansen came in at No. 58 overall. He recently attended the USMNT collegiate identification camp in Carson, Calif. The purpose of the camp was to identify the best players in collegiate soccer ahead of Olympic qualifying in October. He was second on the team in scoring in 2014 with five goals, three assists and 13 points.
Wehan, coming in at No. 79 on the list, was the leading scorer on the squad with 10 goals, two assists and 22 points. He was named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List a few weeks ago. The Hermann Trophy goes to the best player in college soccer, and Wehan was one of 30 nominees.
The Lobos play their final home exhibition match of the year tonight as they take on Grand Canyon University. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 and admission is FREE for all fans.
