First Serve: Emily Olivier

Leading up to the fall season we will be getting an update on what some of the New Mexico women’s tennis players are up to. This week we caught up with Junior Emily Olivier.

Emily last season played both number one and number two singles for the Lobos as UNM won its first Mountain West Conference title.  Emily was named All-Mountain West as well as she went 6-3 in conference.  Her 20 singles wins were the second-most on the team.  In doubles, she formed an unlikely but highly effective doubles partnership with the diminutive Sharon Coone, going 4-1 together.  Overall Emily’s 13 doubles wins led the team.

Lobo Sports: What have you been up to so far this summer? Have you seen any of the other players? Any big plans the rest of it?

Emily Olivier: This summer I have been relaxing by the pool, hanging with friends, and practicing. I have only seen Dominique Dulski this summer. My exciting plans include heading home to Texas and v

EO: I am looking forward to playing KU and Houston, and of course the Mountain West Conference Tournament.

LS: One thing you love about Albuquerque?

EO: The People

LS: Any special memories from the past season?

EO: Winning the conference tournament is my best memory of the season.

LS: With classes starting August 17th, what are you looking forward to most about the beginning of the school year??

EO: I am looking forward to meeting my new teammates, starting practice, going to football games, and an Acting class that I’ll be taking.
