ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The University of New Mexico men’s soccer team received a Sport Academic Award from Conference USA Friday after posting the highest team GPA among all men’s soccer programs in the conference last season. The Lobos, who also won the award for 2013-14, had a collective 3.370 GPA last year.

This is just one of many academic awards the Lobos have received for their work in the classroom. James Rogers, now a member of Sporting KC, was named the Lobo Club’s Male Student-Athlete of the Year, and Josh Dye was an Academic All-American. C-USA awarded academic medals to five Lobos, and UNM had a league-high 24 named to the conference’s honor roll. The Lobos also earned an NSCAA Team Academic Award for the third straight year, and for the 11th time overall under head coach Jeremy Fishbein.

Rogers, Nick Miele and Chris Wehan were all named NSCAA Scholar All-America, and UNM was the only program with three players on the first or second team. Miele and Dye were joined by Jason Beaulieu as Academic All-Conference USA.

The Lobos’ season opens Saturday, August 29 at UCLA.
