Albuquerque, N.M. — UNM women’s tennis head coach Kelcy McKenna has announced that Ludivine Burguire will transfer from VCU and join the Lobos for the 2015-16 season.  Burguire, a native of Marseille, France, will be a junior next year.

Burguire joins fellow transfer Andrea LeBlanc from Morehead State and Ruth Copas from Ireland as new players for the 2015-16 season.  UNM returns five of its top six singles players, including No. 1 and All-Mountain West performer Emily Olivier.

Burguire, who is still just 19 as a junior, played mostly at No. 4 singles for VCU.  She went 7-5 over the spring dual portion of the season with two wins over nationally-ranked foes, including a 6-3, 1-6, 1-0 (11-9) win over No. 47 Devan McCluskey of Penn State. She picked up 13 wins in doubles, including six wins in her final six matches, toppling Marshall’s 52nd-ranked doubles team in the streak.

“We are ecstatic Ludivine has chosen to become a Lobo this fall,” said McKenna.  “Ludivine is a tough competitor with a great technical base. We are really looking forward to watching her develop as both a player and person at the University of New Mexico over the next two years.”
