ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Carl Stajduhar’s fantastic season earned him another honor Wednesday. The University of New Mexico’s freshman third baseman was named Second Team All-Region by the American Baseball Coaches Association on Wednesday. He was one of just 15 freshmen in the entire country to be named to one of the eight All-Region teams.

A native of Fort Collins, Colo., Stajduhar hit .322 and set a new UNM freshman record for RBIs with 53, which led the team. He also led the Lobos in hits (75), doubles (21), home runs (nine), total bases (127), and was the only player to appear in all 59 games this season, including 58 starts. He was second on the squad in runs (45) and slugging (.545).

Stajduhar has already been named a Freshman All-American by both Collegiate Baseball Newspaper and the NCBWA. He earned All-Mountain West second team honors as well as a spot on the MW All-Tournament Team after UNM advanced to the championship game in Reno, Nev., last month.
