SARASOTA, Fla. – New Mexico’s Gavin Green has added another award to his long list of accomplishments as the former Lobo golfer was named to the PING Division I All-Region West team.
Green joins 154 other collegiate on the PING list that includes golfers in six regions: Northeast, East, Southeast, Midwest, Central and West. Green, the 2014-15 Mountain West Player of The Year, is one of five Mountain West golfers named to the West Region team.
“Gavin has performed at a high level during his career as a Lobo and this award is just another reflection of his talent and his work ethic,” said Lobo Coach Glen Millican.
The Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia native played in 14 events in 2014-15 and had three victories – UNM’s own William H. Tucker Intercollegiate, the Western Refining College All-American Golf Classic in El Paso, Texas and the Hootie’s at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate in Awendaw, S.C.
Green holds the UNM record for most career individual victories with eight followed by Tim Herron with five. Green recorded 10 top-10 finishes this season.
Green’s career at New Mexico ended at the NCAA San Diego Regional where the 23rd –ranked Lobos failed to advance to the NCAA finals. Green tied for the 18th spot at the regional battle.
