ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Senior outfielder Brandi Heimburg was named to the Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District Team that the organization announced Thursday morning.
“Brandi not only is a standout athlete on the softball field,” said head coach Erica Beach. “But she is someone who takes pride in her academic career. She holds herself to such high standards in life and it shows in how well she performs in the classroom. I couldn’t be prouder of her accomplishments in both areas as a Lobo.”
The Phoenix, Arizona native has one of the top GPA’s on the softball team at 3.94. She will graduate in December with a degree in psychology and a minor degree in communications.
On the field, Heimburg is leading the team in conference action at the plate with a .441 batting average, which is the fifth highest batting average among the conference. Overall, she is hitting .337 which is third on the team. She is second on the team in hits with 58 and 12 doubles. She leads the team in walks with 23.
Heimburg has started every game this season for a total of 51 and has only made four errors in 70 chances out in the right field for a .943 fielding percentage.
She transferred in last season from Yavapai Community College and has made her mark on the Lobo program as a leader, player and overall human being. Her final game as a Lobo will be Saturday, May 9. The first pitch will be at noon MT. Live stats and video will be available on GoLobos.com.
