ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — New Mexico’s ManonMolle’, the 2015 Mountain West individual champion, today was placed on the league’s 2014-15 Women’s Golf All-Conference Second Team.
Molle’ was joined on the MW Second Team team by San Diego State’s Milagros Chaves, who tied with the Lobo sophomore at the end of 54 holes, but lost the Mountain West title in a one-hole playoff. The second team was rounded outby Boise State’s Genevieve Ling, San Diego State’s Sirene Blair, and the San José State duo of Regan De Guzman and My Leander.
UNLV senior Dana Finkelstein, the 2014-15 Mountain West Golfer of the Year, became the sixth golfer in the league’s 16-year history to earn all-conference distinction in each of her four years. She joins New Mexico’s Kailin Downs (2001-02 to 2004-05) and Jodi Ewart (2006-07 to 2009-10), San Diego State’s Christine Wong (2009-10 to 2012-13), TCU’s Valentine Derrey (2006-07 to 2009-10) and UNLV’s Therese Koelbaek (2007-08 to 2010-11).
Finkelstein is joined on the all-conference first team by her teammate and 2014-15 Freshman of the Year Harley Dubsky. San Diego State junior Emma Henrikson was named to the all-league first team for the third consecutive year, while Fresno State senior Madchen Ly was recognized on the first team for the first time in her career after receiving second team distinction in 2012-13 and 2013-14. San José State senior Megan Osland was also named to the All-MW first team for the first time as a Spartan.
San Diego State head coach Leslie Spalding was named the 2014-15 Mountain West Coach of the Year. Spalding, who receives the honor for the first time at the helm of the Aztecs, led the squad to four team titles this season, including their first-ever victory at the Conference Championship. She also becomes the first-ever SDSU head coach to be named Mountain West Women’s Golf Coach of the Year.
UNM’s Molle’ was named as an individual to compete in the 2015 NCAA Women’s Golf Regionals in San Antonio, Texas. The New Mexico team did not make the postseason field. Molle’ won the Mountain West individual championship by carding the best round of the day (67) on the final 18 holes and claiming the title with a birdie on the first hole of a playoff.
Molle’ enters the NCAA postseason with a 73.67 stroke average. She is one of three Mountain West golfers who will play in the NCAA postseason as individuals.
