The National Strength and Conditioning Association will hold its New Mexico State Clinic on May 2 at the Rudy Davalos Center just south of WisePies Arena, aka “The Pit.”
The day-long clinic will begin with a session for new strength and conditioning coaches wishing to implement regimens at the high school level.
The next part of the clinic will cover topics on sport-specific training, including mixed martial arts, college track and field and college football.
The final portion of the event is devoted to training techniques – including common weightlifting errors and corrections, health and wellness and injury prevention in law enforcement and implementing functional movement in a training program.
As the worldwide authority on strength and conditioning, the NSCA supports and disseminates research-based knowledge and its practical application, to improve athletic performance and fitness.
The clinic begins at 9 a.m., with check-in and on-site registration from 8-9 a.m. at the Davalos Center. University of New Mexico senior assistant performance coach Molly McKinnon (in charge of Lobo women’s basketball, softball and women’s tennis) will serve as host for the event.
