University of New Mexico’s Swimming and Diving program’s head coach, Kunio Kono, will lead the third annual Lobo Swim Camp this summer at the Seidler Natatorium.
The Lobos have structured three camps that will be offered in single and multi-day sessions. Each will provide a high intensity experience that focuses on the training and technique of each athlete through Division I based drills.
Session one of the “Start & Turn Camp” will begin Sunday, May 31 and session two will follow on Monday, June 8.
The Start & Turn Camp will dedicate half a day towards the learning of each start and turns with one hour of video observation and two hours of practice in the water. Instruction for all four strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly) and IM transition turns will be included.
Prices are as follows: $60.00 with the Stroke/Elite Camp sign-up or $75.00 without the Stroke/Elite Camp sign-up.
The “Stroke Camp” will kick off session one on Sunday, May 31 until Friday June 5 and session two on Monday, June 8 until Saturday, June 13. This camp is designed to run workouts focusing on the technique of each stroke. Video sessions will also be provided daily. There is a 35 participant limit per session.
Prices are as follows: $550.00 for the overnight camp or $450.00 for the day camp.
The “Elite Camp” will commence session one during the week of Sunday, May 31 until Friday, June 5 and session two on Monday, June 8 until Saturday June 13. The Elite Camp is recommended for swimmers with USA Swimming Sectional Level experience and will incorporate two-day water and dry-land type training and daily video sessions. There is a 10 participant limit per session.
Prices are as follows: $600.00 for the overnight camp.
Overnight Lobo Swim Camps include breakfast, lunch and dinner and day camps will include lunch.
Registration is open to ages eight through 18 who are also 2015 USA Swimming registered. UNM Swim Camps are open to any and all entrants, restricted only by age, gender, and camp number limitations
