ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The No. 31 University of New Mexico women’s tennis team will have its road skills tested once again this weekend as the Lobos are traveling to Oklahoma to square off against two top-25 Big-12 opponents. The Lobos face eighth-ranked Oklahoma State on Saturday and No. 24 Oklahoma on Sunday.
“This weekend presents an awesome opportunity for us,” head coach Erica Jasper said. “Both Oklahoma State and Oklahoma are having really good springs–and their rankings reflect that. We’ve had a productive week of practice so far. I’m really proud of our team’s determination to continue to get better and we’re looking forward to being out on the court this weekend.”
No. 31 New Mexico (9-3)
UNM is currently 9-3 on the season. The Lobos split their road matches last weekend claiming a 4-3 win over Utah and a falling to BYU in a 6-1 match. UNM moved up from No. 34 to No. 31 in the latest ITA team rankings. The Lobos are currently 4-2 against ranked opponents this season.
No. 8 Oklahoma State (10-2)
The Lobos open the weekend with a challenging match up against the OSU Cowgirls at 2 p.m. CT at the Greenwood Tennis Center. Head coach Chris Young has a lineup that includes three ITA ranked singles players: Viktoriya Lushkova (No. 12), Katarina Adamovic (No. 77), and Kelsey Laurente (No. 80) and a top-10 ranked doubles pair: Lushkova/Laurente (No. 6). The Cowgirls, who are currently on a four-match winning streak, have only fallen to top-10 teams (at the time No. 3 North Carolina and at the time No. 7 Alabama). The Cowgirls are currently undefeated at home.

No. 24 Oklahoma (10-2)
UNM closes out the weekend with another tough match against the Sooners at 12 p.m. CT at the Headington Family Tennis Center. OU also has only two losses on the season both from ranked opponents. The Sooners fell to (at the time No. 58) Arkansas and recently dropped a 4-0 match to OSU (at the time No. 12).
