SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The University of New Mexico men’s tennis team hits the road once again this weekend, as they continue their non-conference schedule against Cal Poly and San Francisco in San Luis Obispo, Calif.
“We have another tough weekend on the road,” interim head coach Bart Scott said. “Both of these teams are well coached and very aggressive. We need to make sure we stay very focused on what we need to do. It should be an exciting weekend of tennis!”
The No. 58 Lobos, 4-5 on the season, will take on Cal Poly on Friday at 1 p.m. PT at the Mustang Tennis Complex. UNM will look to remain undefeated against Cal Poly as the Lobos currently hold a 3-0 all-time record against the Mustangs. When the two opponents squared off last spring, the Lobos tallied a 5-2 victory.
UNM will close out the weekend with a match against USF on Saturday at 11 a.m. PT. The Lobos, who are also undefeated against the Dons, have not faced off against USF since 2006 (where the Lobos won, 5-1). The Dons are bringing in an experienced lineup featuring six upperclassmen and ranked doubles pair Bernardo Saraiva and Nils Skajaa (No. 31 in ITA doubles rankings).
A full recap and results will be available on GoLobos.com and on the UNM Men’s Tennis Facebook page following each match.
