ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico Athletic Department has officially released its latest five-year Strategic Plan. That plan is available for viewing on GoLobos.com under the “Inside Athletics” tab. The call to action for the plan is “Developing Lobos 4 Life”.
The new plan for 2015-2020 comes on the heels of the 2009-2014 Strategic Plan. The executive summary and review of those plans are also available on the website at the same location.
The new plan established five main goals:
- *Clearly define the Department of Athletics’ Mission, Vision, and Core Values;
- *Ensure alignment with the University and the region’s Vision and Core Values;
- *Identify specific goals and action steps that will enable New Mexico Athletics to achieve its commitment to the University, student-athletes, alumni and supporters;
- *Provide a management, planning and assessment tool for the President and the Director of Athletics;
- *Enable and foster a collaborative positive working environment for students, faculty, coaches, and staff through common goals initiatives.
Senior Associate Athletic Director Kurt Esser headlined the various committees and research groups that were utilized in helping to construct the Strategic Plan, a plan which incorporates a new Vision Statement and revised Core Values.
“The development of the Strategic Plan is a blueprint or a road map for our department for the next five years,” said Esser. “We have reached out and received tremendous feedback in developing the plan, and we feel that it is a great representation of where we want to be in five years.”
