ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico women’s tennis team will look to extend its three-match winning streak when it hosts UTEP on Saturday at the Linda Estes Tennis Center at 11 a.m. MT.

UNM tallied three big wins last weekend over No. 51 Houston, conference rival Nevada, and No. 70 North Texas and now the Lobos are hoping to carry that momentum into Saturday’s match against the Miners.

UTEP head coach Cristina Moros is bringing a seven-player lineup with a diverse range of experience: 2 seniors; 1 junior; 2 sophomores; 2 freshmen. The Miners, 1-0 on the season, lost to the Lobos in a tight 4-3 match when the two opponents faced each other last season.

UNM holds a 28-1 all-time record against UTEP, but the Lobos will be expecting a challenging match from the Miners as usual.

“We are excited for another home weekend of tennis although, the schedule doesn’t get any easier for us,” head coach Erica Jasper said. “Last year we won an extremely close 4-3 battle with UTEP, since then they’ve had a coaching change and added a couple new players to their roster, so we expect another good battle. On our end, we’ll look to continue to improve some little things that we’ve been working on this week in practice and take care of our half of the court.”

This match will serve as the Lobos’ last home match until March 14.
