ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – University of New Mexico men’s tennis head coach Bart Scott announced this week that Jorge Escutia (Guadalajara, Mexico) will join the Lobos for upcoming spring 2015 season.
Escutia is a 6’2” standout competitor coming to UNM with a wealth of tennis experience as he has competed in several ITF Pro Circuit events. He has been ranked in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) rankings in both singles and doubles and is one of the top ranked juniors in Mexico.
“Jorge is a lefty who will help us out right away in both singles and doubles,” Scott said. “His work ethic and his professionalism will add even more depth to our talented roster of student-athletes this season as he will join us in January.”
Escutia puts the finishing touch on the Lobos’ 12-player roster for the 2015 season.
“We welcome Jorge and his family to Lobo Nation,” Scott added. “He will make an excellent Lobo for life!”
The Lobos’ open the spring season at the January Kickoff taking place Jan. 16-19 at the University of Arizona. UC Irvine and Texas Tech will join the Lobos and the Wildcats for the weekend event.
