“Lobos Love Pink”: $3 ticket for fans wearing Pink. Raffle & silent auction with thousands of dollars in prizes and gifts donated by local businesses and individuals. All proceeds go directly to UNMH Cancer Center.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The University of New Mexico volleyball team plays host to Mountain West foe Wyoming on Saturday in the Johnson Center for the program’s annual “Lobos Love Pink” match.

This week the Lobos are No. 2 in the Mountain West standings after dropping two matches on the road last week to San Diego State and UNLV. The Lobos are 4-2 in conference play and 11-7 overall on the season.

The Lobos face No. 6 Colorado State on Thursday at 7 p.m. and Wyoming on Saturday for the “Lobos Love Pink” match at 2 p.m. CSU is No. 1 in the MW standings with an 18-1 overall record and perfect 6-0 conference record. Wyoming is 14-5 on the season with a 3-3 record which is tied for sixth in the league.

“Lobos Love Pink” – $3 Tickets, Raffle & Auction

Pink jersey tops will be worn by the Lobos in honor of their annual “Lobos Love Pink” match and fans also donning pink with get into Saturday’s match for $3.

“Lobos Love Pink” is an annual event put on by Lobo volleyball and the University of New Mexico Hospital’s Cancer Center in the month of October to promote breast cancer awareness. The team hold a raffle and silent auction with all funds raised going to the Center.

Lobos Love PinkThis year one of the Lobos has been affected by breast cancer. Senior redshirt Chantale Riddle’s mother was diagnosed with the cancer earlier in March. Riddle is playing for much more than a win on Saturday.

“It means a lot to play for my mom,” said Riddle. “Because the surprise about my mom getting cancerin March really makes you realize how urgent we need a cure for breast cancer. This is to really show all the women out there who fought this batter with cancer and raise awareness at the time can really help researchers find the cure for this cancer.”

The Lobos received thousands of dollars in items for the raffle and silent auction. Several local restaurants, businesses  and individuals have contributed as well as other Lobo athletic programs.

Raffle tickets are $1 with the drawings taking place when the doors open at 1 p.m. Bidding for the silent auction will also take place as soon as the doors open and up until the start of the third set. The raffle will end as soon as the match is over.
