TUCSON, Ariz. – Lobos Susan Baklini, Rachana Bhat, and Sharon Coone are headed to Tucson, Arizona to compete in the 2014 Wildcat Invitational hosted by the University of Arizona at the El Conquistador Golf and Tennis Resort, Oct. 3-5.
“We are excited about this weekend’s tournament in Tucson,” head coach Erica Jasper said. “There are a number of strong teams slated to compete, so it will be another good opportunity to test ourselves against tough competition and to try some different looks in doubles.”
The three-day tournament will feature competitors from UA, UTEP, Colorado State, UTSA, Marquette, Texas State, Mississippi, Northern Arizona, and Arkansas.
Baklini will open the weekend with a match against UA’s Laura Oldham, Bhat will face CSU’s Aina Hernandez, and Coone will face UTEP’s Lois Wagenvoort in the her first match of the tournament. Bhat and Baklini will team up for doubles competition while Coone plays on a mixed team with MSU senior Naomi Tran.
This is the Lobos’ final fall tournament before they host the 2014 USTA/ITA Mountain Regionals, Oct. 15-19 on UNM’s home turf.
