ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – After having a career performance against San Josè State on Thursday and her fifth double-double of the season, senior Chantale Riddle has been named this week’s Mountain West Player of the Week. This is her first weekly honor this season and third weekly honor of her career. The award was announced Monday morning by the MW conference office.

“She had amazing week,” said head coach Jeff Nelson. “She is playing a complete game and really getting after it. Sometimes you have to go with what is working and this weekend she is what was working. She really played at a high level.”

In Thursday’s 3-0 sweep of San Josè State, Riddle posted a career-high hitting percentage of .600, collecting 12 kills off of 20 attacks with no errors. She also picked up five blocks on the right side and tallied five digs.

Chantale RiddleRiddle recorded her fifth double-double of the season in Saturday’s 3-0 sweep of Nevada. She put down 15 kills to go along with 12 digs. She hit .367(15-30 with four errors) on the right side and collected five blocks.

On the weekend, she averaged 4.50 kills per set, 1.67 blocks per set, 5.58 points per set and 2.83 digs per set. In the two matches, she hit .460 on the right side and collected a total of 27 kills on 50 attackes, 17 digs and 10 blocks.

“She took some great swings and had some nice blocks. This is the third weekend in-a-row that she has played at an extremely high level. It is a great honor and we are always happy when one our kids is recognized.”

For the season, Riddle is hitting .286. She is averaging 3.72 kills per set (second in the MW), 2.72 digs per set, 1.61 blocks per set (second in the MW) and 4.75 points per set (first in the MW). Riddle is on pace to take hold of the all-time kill record. Tania Gooley is currently the all-time kill leader with 1,579. With Riddle’s 171 kills this season puts her at 1,353, just 226 away from the record.
