In Sea Island, Ga., University of New Mexico junior golfer Gavin Green shot a 5-over 77 Sunday to finish tied for 26th in the 90-player Jones Cup Invitational.

Green (76-73-77=226) was 10 over for the tournament and eight strokes behind tournament champion Corey Conners of Kent State, Conners shot a 2-over 218 (72-73-73) and tied SMU’s Austin Connelly in the 54-hole event at the Ocean Forest Golf Course but defeated Connelly in the first hole of a playoff.

Fellow Lobo junior Victor Perez finished tied for 62nd in the event for the nation’s top amateurs, moving up eight places in the final round after posting a 3-over score on Sunday. Perez shot a 15-over 231 (78-78-75) for the event.

The Lobos will play next at the John Burns Intercollegiate in Kaua’i, Hawaii, from Feb. 19-21.
