Drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 15th round of the 2008 MLB Amateur Draft…collected All-Mountain West Conference second team honors…named a MWC All-Academic Honoree…played and started all 58 games, serving as the Lobos’ primary shortstop with occasional appearances as a relief pitcher… .332 batting average tied for fourth best on the team…drove in 43 runs, scored 35 and doubled 12 times…committed just nine errors at shortstop all season…fell a home run shy of hitting for the cycle in game two of a doubleheader against Eastern Michigan on Feb. 23, going 4-for-5 with a season-high five RBI…scored a season-high three runs on Feb. 29 at Texas State…drove in four runs with two hits on March 28 against Vermont…went 3-for-3 on April 5 at San Diego State…picked up three hits in back-to-back games against Air Force (April 12-13) with five RBI…picked up three or more RBI in six games throughout the season…made five appearances from the bullpen, finishing with 5.2 innings pitched…after starting the game at shortstop, pitched the ninth inning on Feb. 24 vs. Eastern Michigan, allowing one run, but striking out two…pitched a scoreless inning over New Mexico State on March 26, fanning two…recorded another scoreless inning of relief on April 22 against Arizona.
Redshirt Freshman (’07): Named to the MWC All-Academic team … ranked 28th in the nation among Division I players in sacrifices (0.26 pg) … led the MWC in sac bunts (13) and placed seventh in times hit by a pitch (9) … started at short in his first game for UNM, going 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored at Texas Tech (2/6)… gave up two unearned runs in two-thirds of an inning at Arizona (2/11) in his first pitching appearance … drove in a team-high four runs at New Mexico State (2/13), going 2-for-4 with a home run… struck out all three batters he faced at Texas A&M (3/4) … started at third base vs. Saint Louis (3/5), going 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored … 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored in the series finale with NMSU (3/20)… posted two hits vs. Air Force in game two (4/15) and threw 2 innings, striking out one to earn his first win of the season … drew a walk in the ninth inning against BYU (5/4) before giving way to a pinch runner, who scored to tie the game … made a diving grab on a grounder up the middle to save a run from scoring and giving Bobby LaFromboise a 1-0 complete-game shutout in the MWC Tournament opener vs. SDSU (5/23) … went 2-for-3 with a RBI, double and a run scored to lead UNM vs. UNLV (5/25).

High School: Multi-talented athlete, lettering in baseball and basketball at La Cueva HS … named to the all-district first team and all-state second team as a senior … hit .472 with three home runs as senior and .426 with a homer as a junior … helped the Bears post records of 28-0 and 29-0 his junior and senior years, respectively … team was state champions in 2004 and 2005.
