Lobo Sammi Stevens saw her junior season come to an end today as she finished in a tie for 39th place at the NCAA West Regional at Stanford, Calif.

Stevens ended the tournament with a 54-hole total of 10-over 223 (73-76-74) at the Stanford Golf Course (par-71, 6,267 yards).

Stevens had to be one of the top two individual finishers who was not a member of the eight qualifying teams to advance to the NCAA Championships May 21-24 at Athens, Ga. She finished 11 shots behind Georgia’s Emilie Burger (212). San Jose State’s Regan De Guzman (211) claimed the other spot.

Southern Cal won the team title at 859, a shot ahead of Purdue. USC’s Annie Park and Purdue’s Paula Reto shared the individual championship at 7-under 206.

Stevens finished her season with a scoring average of 74.81 over 32 rounds to rank first on the team and second in the Mountain West. Her career scoring average of 75.77 is No. 7 all-time at UNM.
