New Mexico at Wyoming Notes

First Half

• New Mexico will look to win in Laramie for a second-consecutive season, which the program has not done since the 2003-04 and 2004-05 seasons.

• Kaitlin Mileto came out firing for the Cowgirls scoring seven of the team’s first eleven points, including five straight.

• The Lobos came out cold shooting the ball converting only two of their first ten shots, which included a 0-3 mark from beyond the arc through the first eight minutes of the game.

• UNM’s defense held Wyoming scoreless for five minutes and 56 seconds after the Cowgirls took a 13-7 lead.

• New Mexico took its first lead 20-19 with a Caroline Durbin three-pointer with 5:30 left in the first half.

• Wyoming closed out the final 3:53 of the first half on a 12-2 run.

• After scoring just seven points in her last game against Wyoming, Caroline Durbin led the Lobos with ten first-half points.

• The Lobos were whistled for 13 fouls in the first half to just four for Wyoming.

• Ashley Sickles nearly had a double-double in the first half with 13 points and eight rebounds. She averages eleven points and five rebounds per game this season.

• UNM shot 3-13 (23.1%) from behind the arc in the first twenty minutes of play• Coach Sanchez and company committed only five turnovers in the first half.

Second Half/Game

• After having their lead cut to five points, Wyoming went on a 10-0 in 3:03 to push their lead to 15 points, which was their biggest lead of the game at that time.

• In the last four minutes of the first half and the first four minutes of the second half, Wyoming’s combined run was 24-8.

• New Mexico kept the game in reach thanks to 7-13 (53.8%) shooting in the first 8:10 of the second half. Wyoming shot 3-14 (21.4%) during that same span.• Wyoming reached the double bonus on the tenth UNM foul with over ten minutes left to play.

• After cutting the Wyoming lead to eight points, New Mexico went scoreless for 3:36 in between the under twelve and under eight media timeouts. Wyoming scored nine points during that scoreless drought.

• Deeva Vaughn scored nine of the team’s first 19 points in the second half.

• The Lobos were whistled for a season-high 27 personal fouls, which lead to the final three throw discrepancy. Wyoming was 24-34 (70.6%) from the charity stripe while UNM was 6-11 (54.5%)

• After scoring 13 points in the first half, UNM limited Ashley Sickles of Wyoming to just five points in the second half.

• With 17 points tonight, Caroline Durbin has 18 double-digit games this season.

• New Mexico will finish their 2012-13 conference road schedule with a 4-4 (.500 record)
