COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – New Mexico junior Floyd Ross has been selected as the Mountain West Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week, while New Mexico senior Sarah Waldron has been named MW Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week.

Floyd, from Memphis, Tenn., earned first-place honors in the men’s triple jump at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational last weekend in Berkeley, Calif., notching a personal-best mark of 52′-5.25″ (15.98m). His mark ranks first in the Mountain West and 11th in the country during the 2012 outdoor season. Floyd’s jump also ranks sixth all-time in New Mexico history.

Waldron, a native of Pudleston, England, set a new MW all-time record in the women’s 5,000-meter run last weekend at the Payton Jordan Invitational in Stanford, Calif. Waldron clocked a program-record time of 15:37.49 to finish in sixth place. Her personal-best time broke teammate Ruth Senior’s previous Lobo record (15:48.29), and is tops in the Conference and 10th in the NCAA during the 2012 outdoor campaign. This is Waldron’s second honor for the 2012 season.
