COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. –

New Mexico senior Carl Ho has been selected as the Mountain West Men’s Tennis Player of the Week.

A native of Richmond, British Columbia, Ho went a combined 6-0 last week as No. 61 New Mexico posted a 2-1 record against No. 58 San Diego State (L, 3-4), UNLV (W, 6-1) and Hawai’i (W, 7-0). Ho began the week by pulling out a 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 victory over the Aztecs’ Spencer Simon at the No. 6 singles position. He went on to post singles victories over the Rebels’ Bernard Schoeman (7-6, 6-3) and the Warriors’ Danilo Casanova (6-3, 6-2) at the sixth spot in the lineup. At the third doubles position, Ho and partner James Hignett recorded three consecutive victories, notching wins over SDSU’s Rickey Baylon/Spencer (8-6), UNLV’s Charlie Alvarado/Rene Ruegamer (8-1) and Hawaii’s Charlie Rice/Chas Okamoto (8-4), respectively.
