Last month, former University of New Mexico women’s golfer Jodi Ewart gained full status to play on the 2012 Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Tour.
Now, she has qualified for the 2012 Ladies European Tour in impressive fashion.
On Thursday in Murcia, Spain, Ewart claimed first place at the Ladies European Tour’s Final Qualifying School, guaranteeing her spot on the 2012 tour.
Ewart covered five rounds on the La Manga North and South courses in 11-under-par 350 (70-67-67-73-73), edging Swiss amateur Anais Maggetti by two shots. Ewart, 24, held the top spot for the final four rounds.
“It feels good,” said Ewart. “I mean, fourth on the LPGA and now winning the LET; it’s a pretty good off-season if you ask me. It feels good and I’m really looking forward to this year.”
Ewart plans to head home to Florida before beginning her inaugural LPGA season Feb. 9, at the ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open in Victoria, Australia.
