Keith Gerrard, a 2011 graduate from The University of New Mexico, placed 12th in the 10,000-meter run at the Bupa Great Edinburgh International Cross-Country Challenge at Holyrood Park in Edinburgh, Scotland on January 7, 2012.

Representing the Aviva Great Britain team in the event that was televised on the BBC, Gerrard clocked a 26:16 run, good enough to make him the fifth Briton to cross the finish line. Fifth-placed Frank Tickner (25:55) and seventh-placed Steve Vernon (26:00) were the first two British athletes to finish.

Gerrard, whose documented career-high in the 10km at UNM was 28:27.03, said after the race “I was pleased to be a scorer for the team, it was a solid run and good start to the year, I know there is more to come.” Gerrard was named to the All-MWC First Team and earned NCAA All-American status in cross country his senior year as a Lobo.

The three-way match, also featuring a European Select team and a USA team, was won by Europe with 44 points. Great Britain came in as runner-up with 58 points and the USA team finished third with 76 points. Ayad Lamdassem (Europe/Spain) won the race with a mark of 25:44.
