UNM vs. Washington State – 76 Classic – Anaheim, Calif.
New Mexico improves to 3-2 with a 72-62 victory over Washington State in the second round of the 76 Classic in Anaheim, Calif.
The Lobos face Boston College Sunday in the 5th-place game starting at 2 p.m. Mountain…UNM and BC have never met
Two of the Lobos’ three wins this season have come against Pac-12 schools…UNM won at Arizona State 76-71 on Nov. 18
New Mexico never trailed tonight and its biggest lead was 17 twice in the 1st half (26-9 and 28-11)
The Lobos led 28-11 with 7:06 left in the first half after Chad Adams made a pair of FTs…however, the rest of the half UNM was just 3 of 10 from the floor and was guilty of 6 turnovers as the Cougars trimmed the halftime lead to 36-27
Washington State cut the UNM lead to 7 twice in the 2nd half, the last time 64-57 with 2:09 remaining
New Mexico was 8 of 8 from the FT line over the last 1:49, 6 of 6 by Kendall Williams and 2 of 2 by Drew Gordon
UNM made 15 of 20 FTs and has converted 87% (46-53) in two games of the Classic…the Lobos’ season FT percentage is now 72.7%
UNM has made a 3-point FG in 663 consecutive games…the last game without a 3 was Jan. 3, 1991 at Colorado State (0-for-8)
