ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Senior Michael Green has always been a keystone in the Lobo midfield, but his post-season performances have earned him national recognition on CollegeSoccer360.com’s Primetime Players of the Week list.
The season-long anchor of the Lobo midfield most recently helped unbeaten UNM rally to avert an upset against a quality Duke squad (2-1/OT). He continues to be a strong facilitator of the New Mexico offensive attack while doubling as a tough defensive midfielder.
Additionally, he serves as a set-piece specialist and he helped the Lobos get the best of a key midfield battle in tightly-contested NCAA second-round game (UNM held Duke to a pair of shots-on-goal and three corner kicks).
Green has started all 21 games for the Lobos this season and recorded two goals, one working as a game-winner, and four assists for eight points. He also scored a clutch penalty kick for the Lobos in a shootout against Cal State Bakersfield to fuel the Lobos to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation championship title.
On the season, Green has posted a .522 shot on goal percentage and a perfect 1-1 in regulation PK’s.
