UNM vs. Santa Clara *** 76 Classic *** Anaheim, Calif.
- New Mexico drops to 2-2 after a 79-76 overtime loss to Santa Clara in the opening round of the 76 Classic in Anaheim, Calif.
- The Lobos will face the Oklahoma-Washington State loser Friday at 7:30 p.m. MST
- New Mexico is 2-2 after 4 games for the first time since 2008-09…UNM tied for the Mountain West Conference regular season title that year…UNM has not started 2-3 since 2003-04
- UNM led 2-0 then not again until 70-69 in OT on a 3-pointer by sophomore Tony Snell…the Lobos trailed 21-7 in the 1st half
- The Lobos stayed in the game by making 31 of 33 FTs (93.3%)……8 players combined for this accuracy…UNM was 5 of 6 in the 1st half and 26 of 27 after halftime…seven Lobos combined to make the team’s last 17 FTs
- However, UNM hit just 36% (18-50) of its FGs, 9 of 21 from 3-point (43%) and only 9 of 29 (31%) from 2-point
- UNM has made a 3-point FG in 662 consecutive games…the last game without a 3 was Jan. 3, 1991 at Colorado State (0-for-8)

- Season-high 14 points after scoring 11 points in his first three games of the season
Senior Phillip McDonald
- 5 points, giving him 981 career points in 103 games
- 167 career 3-pointers, 4 from equaling Marlow White for 9th place at UNM
