TUCSON, ARIZ. – Abel Sanchez and his diving squad were in Tucson this weekend for the Wildcat diving invitational where the Lobos had a good showing. Despite being shorthanded throughout the season thus far Ashlee Erickson, Megan Harper, Michole Timm and Laura Lee Thomas stepped up for UNM.
As usual Ashlee Erickson was impressive and solid off the 1-meter springboard. The senior placed eighth in the preliminary round with a score of 261.20; however she bounced back in the final round and finished second with a score of 290.00. Her score was only 1.95 points behind Kristin Meier of San Diego State who placed first.
Off the 3-meter springboard freshman Michole Timm placed 12th in the preliminary round with a score of 247.20. Her score was not enough to send her to the final round, but she was able to dive in the consolation final. In the consolation final she placed 8th with a final of 243.50, Timm was 16th overall
Sophomore Megan Harper placed 16th in the Platform dive with a score of 178.35, she had the highest finish for the Lobos in the event. Laura Lee Thomas placed 35th with a score 127.30 and Ashlee Erickson was 37th with 117.95.
