Nov. 17, 2011
Albuquerque, N.M.— The great thing about November basketball … you never have to dwell too long after a loss. That is most certainly the case with the University of New Mexico Lobos. After a disappointing 62-53 loss to New Mexico State in The Pit, the Lobos get a chance to cleanse the palette so to speak as the cherry and silver take on the Arizona State Sun Devils.
WHO:The Lobos are 1-1 on the season, having won their home opener, and then losing their follow-up at home. The Sun Devils have had an identical start, winning their opener at home, and then losing the next home game.
WHAT’S AT STAKE:For both teams, it’s a chance to start 2-1 before heading off to a big tournament. The Lobos return home after this contest to travel to the 76 Classic in Anaheim (home of Disney Land), where the squad will face off with Santa Clara in the first round on Thanksgiving night before getting either Washington State or Oklahoma in the second round. For Arizona State, it heads to Orlando (home of Disney World) for the Old Spice Classic, taking on Fairfield and then either Dayton or Wake Forest.
WHERE:Wells Fargo Arena (10,754) is the home of the Arizona State Sun Devils. The game is the back-end of a two-year home-and-home contract that started last season.
HOW TO FOLLOW: The game is on Fox Sports Arizona (Tom Leander/Tom Kuyper/Jody Jackson) which is on Direct TV, Comcast, and DISH. Scott Galetti and Scott Didricksonhave the call for the Lobo Radio Network.
