EUGENE, ORE.—As today finished the second day for the Lobos at the Duck Invitational hosted by University of Oregon, two Lobos will be representing UNM in the finals in two different back draws.
Kristin Eggleston although she lost in the round of 16, received a walk-over to the Semifinals after University of Oregon’s Pascale Neubert was unable to play. She was able to redeem herself after her loss yesterday to defeat Eastern Washington University’s Rocio Norena with a score of 6-0, 7-5. She will compete in the finals tomorrow for her draw.
Katie Wookey having her first match of the season yesterday was able to get into the swing of things defeating Eastern Washington University’s Kelsey Knight with a score of 4-6, 6-1, 10-5. She faced her teammate Alyssa Caffey defeating her with a score of 6-2, 6-3. She will also be competing in the finals for a different draw.
Michaela Oldani fell to Eastern Washington University’s Ryann Wagner with a score of 6-1, 6-1.
Nikolina Grbac fell in the quarterfinals of the main draw to University of Portland’s Valeska Hoath with a score of 7-5, 6-2.
Laura Richardson was defeated by Eastern Washington University’s Chrissy Uriate with a score of 6-4, 6-2.
In doubles, Kristin Eggleston and Michaela Oldani fell to Air Force Academy’s Dake/Hueffner with a score of 8-3.
Nikolina Grbac and Alyssa Caffey won by two games against Eastern Washington University’s Ellingsen/Hibbs with a score of 8-6.
The duo of Laura Richardson and Katie Wookey was defeated by Eastern Washington University’s Patton/Knight with a score of 8-6.
Play will resume tomorrow with Kristin Eggleston and Katie Wookey competing in the finals of their respective draws.
