LAS VEGAS, NEV. — The fourth day at the ITA Regionals has two doubles teams along with one singles player winning their final match of the tournament.
In the consolation round of 16 in singles, Laura Richardson was defeated by University of Idaho’s Molly Knox with a score of 6-2, 6-1.
More matches were played today in singles with Maria Sablina falling against University of Utah’s Sammie Watson with a score of 6-4, 6-5.
Michaela Bezdickova won against University of Denver’s Steffi Rath with a score of 7-5, 6-1.
Michaela Oldani fell to Colorado State’s Tori Arneson with a score of 6-3, 6-3.
Alyssa Caffey was defeated by University of Denver’s Emma Isberg with a score of 6-0, 6-0.
Susanna Kuuttila played a close match against Brigham Young University’s Aubrey Paul but was defeated with a score of 6-4, 3-6, 10-2.
Nikolina Grbac fell to University of Idaho’s Sophie Vickers with a score of 6-1, 6-1.
Kristin Eggleston was defeated by University of Idaho’s Alejandra Lozano with a score of 6-0, 6-3.
In the doubles arena, Michaela Bezdickova teamed with Alyssa Caffey defeated Boise State’s Brown/Basil with a score of 8-1.
Nikolina Grbac and Susanna Kuuttila won in a perfect set against Utah State’s Wilkins/Watts with a score of 8-0.
Kristin Eggleston and Laura Richardson fell to University of Idaho’s Lozano/Sanz with a score of 8-5.
Maria Sablina and Michaela Oldani were defeated by University of Colorado’s Manzi/Schleich with a score of 8-4.
“That was a lot of tennis for the week with mixed results. We were doing some things well on the court and have some specific things we need to focus on in practice,” Head Coach Roy Canada said. “We have a good feel now of what we will be competing against in the spring and know what we need to work on.”
The Lobos next tournament will be on October 21, 2011 when they compete at the UO Invitational in Eugene, Oregon.
