LAS VEGAS, NEV.—The third day at the ITA Regional Championship for the Lobos has two Lobos advancing in the singles and doubles consolation brackets.

In the main draw of singles, Michaela Bezdickova fell to University of Utah’s Sarah Pham in three sets finishing the match with a score of 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.

In singles consolation, Kristin Eggleston defeated Utah State’s Monica Abella with a close score of 7-5, 6-4. She will be advancing to the next round of consolation.

Laura Richardson will also be advancing in the consolation round after beating Air Force Academy’s Anastasia Hueffner with a score of 6-2, 6-4.

In the singles consolation, Susanna Kuuttila was defeated by Utah State’s Mckenzie Davis with a score of 6-3, 3-6, 10-2.

Maria Sablina also fell in a three set tiebreak against University of Northern Colorado’s Stephanie Catlin with a score of 6-4, 4-6, 10-3.

Nikolina Grbac was narrowly defeated by Weber State’s Ashley Tanner with a score of 2-6, 7-6, 10-7.

Alyssa Caffey lost to University of Montana’s Sasha Carter with a score of 6-3, 6-3.

Michaela Oldani was defeated by Brigham Young University’s Kelsie Craig with a score of 6-4, 6-3.

In Doubles consolation, Nikolina Grbac and Susanna Kuuttila teamed up against NMSU’s Sylvain/Nguyen and was defeated with a score of 8-5.

Michaela Oldani and Maria Sablina played against Utah State’s Nedakovic/Harris and lost by two games with a score of 8-6.

The two Lobos, Kristin Eggleston and Laura Richardson who had won their singles matches in consolation, paired up in doubles to compete against Brigham Young University’s Craig/Young and won with a score of 8-3. The duo will be advancing on in the consolation bracket of doubles.

“It was another 12 hour day for us today under grueling heat. We fought hard all across the board but let some leads get away from us. Kristin and Laura both came through in singles and doubles,” Head Coach Roy Canada said. “I am feeling very confident of our future, we just need a few kinks to work out to solidify leads into victories but that is what the fall is for.”
