BOISE, IDAHO – The UNM Lobos are in second place after day one of the Boise State Invitational. New Mexico ended the day with a total of 325 points; Boise State currently holds the lead with 426 points and Seattle University sits in third with 168 points.
New Mexico took third and fourth in the first race of the day, the 400-yard medley relay. The team composed of Stelicia Flores, Lindsey Morris, Jorgi Hobson and Anna Lilliestrom touched the wall third and clocked a final time of 3:56.02. Freshmen Sarah Weihe and Amy Peters paired with seniors Nicole Peirce and Tesse Maciejko were fourth with a time of 4:02.42.
Monica Dudley continues to impress in distance events, she finished second in the 500-yard freestyle. Her time of 5:08.36 is a 7.61 second improvement over the time she swam last weekend against Air Force. Taylor McGregor, Maria Dudley and Heidi Zeiger placed sixth through eighth in the event, respectively.
Jorgi Hobson finished third in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 57.58; Stelicia Flores was fifth with a final of 58.27.
Diver of the Week honoree Ashlee Erickson claimed first place in the 1-meter springboard for the second straight time this season, her score of 299.63 hauled in 16 points for UNM. Erickson’s score was also 37.8 points better than Boise State’s Amanda Burnett who came in second.
Amber Amr and Sarah Weihe came in third and fourth in the 200-yard backstroke with times of 2:12.20 and 2:12.28 respectively.
In the 200-yard individual medley Lilliestrom clocked a final time of 2:11.52, giving her third place.
