Albuquerque, N.M. — The University of New Mexico men’s and women’s basketball teams will host a Meet ā€˜n’ Greet with their fans on Saturday, September 23 from 1 to 3 p.m. at The Pit. The event rounds out a full slate of events over Homecoming weekend highlighted by UNM’s football game with Sam Houston State on Saturday.

The Meet ā€˜N’ Greet is a free event for the public, and fans can enter The Pit at the Northeast corner of The Pit through the Frontier/Golden Pride foyer. Regular parking rules for a football game day apply. There will be interactive stations set up as well as a chance to get autographs from all your favorite Lobos. To participate in the activities on The Pit floor, fans must wear tennis shoes. No dress shoes or black-soled shoes will be allowed on the court.

ā€œThis is a great way for the community to interact with both the men’s and women’s basketball teams before the football game,ā€ said head coach Steve Alford. Head women’s basketball coach Yvonne Sanchez added, ā€œI know the players on both teams are excited to meet their fans in a fun environment.ā€

The Meet ā€˜N’ Greet is the first of two fan-friendly basketball events, as the Lobo Howl will return on October 14 after a one-year absence, and a two-year absence from The Pit. The Lobo Howl will run from 6-9 p.m., with the women’s team taking the court at 7 p.m. and the men at 8 p.m. The Opening Drive and The Sports Bar will broadcast live from The Pit that day, along with the Scott Stiegler Show.

That night is ā€œJam Johnsonā€ and ā€œLove Red Live Greenā€ night.

The UNM women’s golf team also hosts the Branch Law Firm/McGuire Invitational on Sunday and Monday.
