Albuquerque, N.M. ā The University of New Mexico menās and womenās basketball teams will host a Meet āN Greet with their fans on Saturday, Sept. 24 from 1-3 p.m. at The Pit. The event rounds out a full slate of events over Homecoming weekend, highlighted by UNMās football game with Sam Houston State on Saturday.
The Meet āN Greet is a free event for the public, and fans can enter The Pit at the Northeast corner of The Pit through the Frontier/Golden Pride foyer. Regular parking rules for a football game day apply. There will be interactive stations set up, as well as a chance to get autographs from all your favorite Lobos. To participate in the activities on The Pit floor, fans must wear tennis shoes. No dress shoes or black-soled shoes will be allowed on the court.
āThis is a great way for the community to interact with both the menās and womenās basketball teams before the football game,ā said head menās basketball coach Steve Alford. Head womenās coach Yvonne Sanchez added, āI know the players on both teams are excited to meet their fans in a fun environment.ā
The Meet āN Greet is the first of two fan-friendly basketball events, as the Lobo Howl will return on Oct. 14 after a one-year absence, and a two-year absence from The Pit. The Lobo Howl will run from 6-9 p.m., with the womenās team taking the court at 7 p.m. and the men at 8 p.m. The Opening Drive with Jeff Simbieda and The Sports Bar with Erik Gee will broadcast live from The Pit that day, along with the Scott Stiegler Show.
