Albuquerque, N.M. — University of New Mexico men’s golfer Travis Ross and skier Tor-Hakon Hellebostad were named Capital One/CoSIDA First Team Academic All-Americans, becoming the fourth Lobos this season to earn Academic All-America honors. Ross and Hellebostad are the first two First Team Academic All-Americans this season for the Lobos. Volleyball player Kelly Williamson and women’s basketball player Amanda Best were both named Third Team Academic All-Americans. Ross and Tor-Hokon are the seventh Academic All-Americans in the last two years for New Mexico.

Overall, the Lobos had 10 student-athletes earn All-District honors, and 21 over the last two years.

Tor-Hokon is a two-time All-American on the slopes who was named Third Team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American in 2010. At the UNM Scholar-Athlete Banquet in May of 2011, he was named UNM’s Scholar Athlete of the Year. He is also a two-time Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Skiing Association Scholar-Athlete as well, and led the Lobos to a 4th place finish at the NCAA Championships this season.
