SAN DIEGO, Calif. — The New Mexico softball team lost at San Diego State Friday, 6-3. The Lobos gave up four runs late in the game and dropped its second straight Mountain West game. UNM fell to 19-25 on the year and 5-9 in league play. The Aztecs moved to 31-19 overall and 7-5 in conference play. Lobo freshman Chelsea Anaya had an RBI triple in the contest, while junior Danielle Castro had a double.

The Aztecs plated their first run of the game in the home half of the fourth. Hayley Miles belted a solo homer to put SDSU on the scoreboard, 1-0.

San Diego State added another run in the fifth. Kristin May would deliver an RBI single to make it 2-0.

New Mexico erupted for three runs in the top of the sixth inning to take its first lead. The Lobos jumped ahead 3-2 late in the game and looked to be in a good position for the win.

UNM scored its three runs on three hits. Castro started the rally with a one-out double and later scored on a wild pitch. Anaya had her RBI triple in the inning and sophomore Cassandra Kalapsa came through with an RBI infield single.

The Aztecs mounted a game winning comeback in the bottom of the sixth inning. SDSU poured in four runs and held on to a 6-3 victory. The Aztecs had a two-run homer and a two-run single to clinch the win.

UNM started sophomore Kari Gutierrez but it was sophomore Kaela DeBroeck (9-11) who took the loss. Gutierrez pitched five innings allowing three runs on four hits but received the no decision. DeBroeck pitched the final inning and gave up three runs on three hits.

Bailey Micetich got the win for SDSU and improved to 18-11. She pitched the final inning and two-thirds, allowing just one hit. Aztec starter Samantha Beasley allowed three runs on five hits in five and a third innings.
