PROVO, Utah — New Mexico sophomore Stefanie Carramusa hit a three-run home run Thursday in an 11-3 loss at BYU in Mountain West Conference action. The Lobos had five hits and committed an error in the six-inning loss. The Cougars belted a solo blast, a three-run shot and a grand slam against UNM. Eight of the 11 BYU runs came of home runs. New Mexico fell to 17-19 overall and 3-3 in league play. BYU improved to 26-15 on the year and 3-1 in conference.

The Cougars scored first with a run in the bottom of the third inning. BYU senior Caschjen Davis-Atagi hit the first of two home runs in the game during the third inning. It was a solo shot to center field.

BYU erupted for six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Davis-Atagi led the way with a three-run homer. The Cougars had six hits in the inning.

New Mexico had two of its five hits in the top of the sixth inning. The Lobos took advantage of walks by juniors Kerry Hodgins and Danielle Castro. With two outs, Carramusa went yard for a three-run home run.

The Cougars sealed the run-rule victory with a Delaney Willard grand slam in the home half of the sixth.

Paige Affleck earned the win in the circle. Affleck (16-10) threw the complete six innings allowing three runs on five hits. She had nine strikeouts against the Lobos.

UNM started sophomore Kaela DeBroeck but finished the game with sophomore Kari Gutierrez. DeBroeck gave up four runs on six hits in 3.2 innings of work and fell to 8-11 on the year. Gutierrez pitched the final 1.1 innings allowing seven runs on five hits.
