BRYAN, Texas — University of New Mexico men’s golfer John Catlin carded his second consecutive 2-over-par 74 during Sunday’s final round at the Aggie Invitational, good enough to land him at 7-over for the tournament and in a four-way tie for 18th-place. It marks Catlin’s fourth consecutive top-25 finish for the Lobos, having taken 20th at the Morris Williams, 23rd at the National Invitational Tournament and 13th at the Barona Collegiate Cup.

New Mexico turned in its best round of the three in Sunday’s final 18, carding a 15-over 375. The Lobos simply had too much ground to make up after Saturday’s combined 58-over 390-388=778, and was unable to make up any ground on the leaderboard. New Mexico finished 10th with a 73-over 390-388-375=1153. Host and sixth-ranked Texas A&M took team honors, finishing 18 strokes ahead of No. 1-ranked Oklahoma State.

The Lobos’ Tom Carlson carded a 1-under 71 on Sunday, finishing the one stroke behind Catlin with an 8-over 76-77-71=224. Travis Ross also rebounded well from a tough first day, carding a 1-over 73 to finish tied for 44th with a 16-over 79-80-73=232.

Ryan Gay finished 53rd with a 19-over 80-79-76=235, while teammates Ryan Berry (80-79-83=242) and Sam Chavez (82-79-81=242) finished tied for 66th at 26-over.

Up next for the Lobos is the Mountain West Conference tournament, May 5-7 at the OMNI Tucson National Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz.
