ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – University of New Mexico swimming head coach Tracy Ljone announced the signing of 7 newcomers for the 2010-2011 season.
The additions bring the Lobos’ total number of signees to nine this year.
Joining the Lobos:
Samantha Moss – Fly/Back/IM – Loveland, Colo. (Thompson Valley HS)
Amber Amr – Sprint Free/Back – Spokane, Wash. (Shadle Park HS)
Amy Peters – Fly/IM – Scottsdale, Ariz. (Pinnacle HS)
Taylor McGregor – Free/Back/IM – Spokane, Wash. (Mt. Spokane HS)
Carlie McGregor – Breast/Fly/IM – Spokane, Wash. (Mt. Spokane HS)
Anna Lilliestrom – Sprint Free/IM – Huddinge, Sweden (Sjodalsgymnasiet)
Kristal Summers – Breast – Corrales, N.M. (Cibola HS)
The latest signee Kristal Summers comes to the Lobos from Corrales, N.M., and joins Anna Lilliestrom as the newest Lobo.
The signees join Sarah Weihe and New Mexico native Kassandra Cleto as UNM’s 2011 signing class. The incoming freshman will add depth and speed to an impressive Lobo squad that saw improvement and several school records fall during the 2010-2011 campaign.
“We are very excited about our spring signing period,” said Ljone. “We have signed seven swimmers and we are hoping to sign a few more within the next couple of days. These seven ladies, in addition to Sarah and Kassandra from the fall, make a great freshmen crew.
“Our goal was to fill some gaps in our lineup and I think we have done that with these recruits. In addition to them being good swimmers all of our signees have excelled in the classroom as well. This is a strong freshmen class and we are only losing three seniors, so we are eager for next season.”
