SUN ANGEL CLASSIC – TEMPE, Ariz. —The University of New Mexico’s track & field team traveled to Arizona for the Sun Angel Classic, hosted by Arizona State University.

Shirley Pitts claimed second place for New Mexico in the women’s 200-meter dash with a time of 24.81. In the men’s 800-meter run, David Bishop finished in fourth-place, crossing the line in 1:51.25.

The Lobos proved strong in the men’s 1,500-meter run when Ross Millington collected a second-place finish, with a time of 3:42.90. Rory Fraser followed with a fifth-place finish (3:44.12).

The men’s 4×100 relay, Thomas Trujillo, Derek Montoya, De’Vron Walker and Lamaar Thomas ran a time of 42.17, for a seventh-place finish.

Impressive performances for the Lobos:

Kayla Fisher-Taylor finished seventh in the 100-meter dash (12.45)
– In the men’s 400-meter hurdles, Yusuf Muhammad ran the event in 53.27, while Charles Lewis followed with a time of 54.01.
Sam Evans ran the men’s 800-meter in 1:50.72, good for 10th-place
Derek Montoya claimed an 11th-place finish in the men’s 400, with a time of 49.29.
Alex Darling finished eighth in the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:52.49.
