FORT WORTH, Texas — The University of New Mexico women’s tennis team took on the BYU Cougars, falling to them in a 6-1 decision. Freshman Michaela Bezdickova claimed the point for the Lobos by winning her singles match against Megan Price, 6-4, 6-4. The Lobos look to wrap up their weekend in Texas with a win against home team, TCU, Sunday afternoon.
In singles play sophomore Kristin Eggleston had a close tiebreaker match. Eggleston lost to opponent, Aubrey Paul, 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (10-5).
Head Coach Roy Cañada was proud of the team’s effort today.
“We competed hard but could not convert our opportunities,” Cañada said. “In order to beat these teams we are going to need to find that extra gear and play solid tennis on the key points. It was a good win for Bezdickova at No. 1 singles.”
The Lobos take on home team TCU, Sunday at 1 p.m.
