ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico resumes matches this weekend starting Friday, April 1st through Sunday, April 3rd. TCU will host the matches this weekend in Fort Worth, Texas. The Lobos will play Utah on Friday, BYU on Saturday and TCU on Sunday. New Mexico will enter the weekend with a 7-7 record.
New Mexico’s last match was a road match against Nevada on March 13, 2011. The Lobos lost in a close 4-3, decision.
The Utah Utes are currently holding a 6-8, record. In the season so far they have had successful wins over teams like Colorado, Auburn and Oregon.
The Cougars of BYU have a 4-7, record into their season. The doubles team of Callie Craig and Megan Price is currently ranked No. 78.
The host team of TCU Horned Frogs is at a 5-6, record. The team is currently on a three-game winning streak. The streak started on March 17 against Kentucky, followed by a win over Rice on March 20 and the most current being beating UT Arlington on March 23.
Lobo Head Coach Roy Cañada is looking for some payback in this regular season conference match-ups.
“We are entering conference regular season with a lot of payback in mind,” Cañada said. “The first three opponemts, Utah, BYU and TCU are very solid teams with some very respectable wins this season, we are going to need our best tennis to come ahead. I am confident we can do it and we have been working hard on some of our kinks in order to be ready “.
