The University of New Mexico women’s golf team remains in 15th place after two rounds of the Battle at Rancho Bernardo in San Diego. The Lobos shot a 29-over 317 today at the Rancho Bernardo Inn Golf Resort (par 72, 6,336 yards) for a 36-hole total of 629 (312-317 / +53).
The 17-team field has 16 teams ranked in the top-50 of the most recent GolfStat poll, including six of the nation’s top 10 schools. At No. 51, UNM is the lowest-ranked team in the field.
In the team standings, No. 7 Purdue (587) has a 7-shot lead over top-ranked Southern Cal (594).

After an opening-round 72, Lobo freshman Sammi Stevens fell to an 81 today. She is tied for 32nd at 153 (72-81 / +9).
Freshman Manon de Roey is tied for 55th at 157 (80-77 / +13) after carding the Lobos’ low round of the day at 77. She was 1-over through 12 holes today before making bogey on four of the next five holes.
Junior Sarah Salvo started slowly again, going out in 5-over. She was 3-over on the back to finish with an 80. Salvo is also tied for 55th at 157 (77-80 / +13).
Sophomore Beth Buchner shot a 79 for a 36-hole total of 162 (83-79 / +18). She was 3-over on the final five holes after playing the first 13 holes in 4-over. Buchner is tied for 77th.
Junior Rebecca Hellbom is in a tie for 84th at 165 (84-81 / +21).
Only two golfers in the 96-player field are under par after 36 holes. Purdue’s Laura Gonzalez has the individual lead at 141 (3-under). Therese Koelbaek from UNLV is a shot back at 142.
